Training Program for the Next Generation of Clinicians

DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center boot camp helps fellows and faculty establish a foundation of success

The 2022 Cardiovascular Boot Camp, held at the Houston Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation and Education (MITIE) on Aug. 5-7, 2022, was a two-day intense event that entailed hands-on training and expert-led lectures to first- and second-year fellows across multiple heart and vascular subdisciplines. Two specialty-specific tracks of cardiology and vascular surgery were offered. Following the guiding principles of “teach basics, teach broadly, teach early,” 82 fellows and 59 faculty members attended the event.

Led by Alan B. Lumsden, MD, Huie Lin, MD, and William A. Zoghbi, MD, this event demonstrates Houston Methodist’s strong clinical expertise and leadership in educating the next generation of clinicians.”
