Dear Hospital Alumni, Faculty, and Colleagues: For many years, Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH) has been ranked #1 in Texas and ranked in the top 20 on the Best Hospitals Honor Roll by U.S. News & World Report. This year HMH was ranked #16 in the country. It is an honor for our service line to be recognized among this prestigious group. Over the last several years, we have grown to 17 faculty, of which 11 are subspecialty trained. We have fellowship trained faculty in all areas of adult otolaryngology, including otology/neurotology, rhinology/skull base surgery, head and neck oncologic surgery, laryngology, facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, allergy, and sleep surgery. We have also procured state-of-the-art equipment to provide the best possible care of our patients, including the Da Vinci SP (single port) robot for cancer and sleep surgery care along with the Olympus Orbeye 3D exoscope for complex otologic and laryngologic procedures. In addition, we also have the Surgical Theater for virtual reality planning for our most difficult cases. We are also the main FDA training site for the investigational trials for the next-generation hypoglossal nerve stimulator from LivaNova. I am also extremely proud to let you know that we have recently been approved by the ACGME to start our own Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Residency Program at Houston Methodist. We will be selecting 2 residents per year starting this July. Doximity officially opened the 2022-2023 U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals and Specialty survey. I am personally asking you for your help in promoting national recognition by participating in the annual survey of physicians through Doximity.com. This survey is of utmost importance to us. Your vote matters and will help us get the word out to our patients that we provide advanced Otolaryngologic care. U.S. News considers several factors in determining Honor Roll hospitals, with the “reputation score” based on physician opinion accounting for a significant portion of the ranking. Being ranked not only raises the national recognition of all of us, but it also helps attract talented students, residents, and faculty to our community.
