Regina Jones has Caring Style with Patients

By Denise Bray Hensley

Regina Jones is the calming presence who greets patients at Houston Methodist’s Center for Plastic Surgery. “Our motto at the office is: the patients already have a lot to deal with, so we are going to make the experience as easy and comfortable as possible,” said Jones. “They just want to be reassured, and I can do that.” She’s now been doing just that – offering patients a charismatic smile and a caring nature – as the right-hand of highly respected plastic surgeon Anthony Brissett, MD, FACS, Division Chief of Houston Methodist ENT Specialists and Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology.

“I try to make it as least worrisome as possible,” she said, adding, “The best part of my job is interacting with the patients. We just talk. I like to get to know my patients and make them feel at ease.” As a certified senior medical assistant, Jones does initial interviews with patients, schedules appointments and reports her observations and any problems to Dr. Brissett. During an office visit, she records vital signs and keeps up patient charts. Jones handles all pre-surgery clearances and schedules office procedures as well as surgeries and then schedules any needed follow-up care. “I knew Regina was the right person to complement my practice. She is very professional and organized and has that beautiful smile and caring nature. I needed someone efficient and compassionate, and she fills the qualifications exactly,” said Dr. Brissett recently. Jones started working at Houston Methodist in 1980 as a nursing assistant and continued for 14 years before she took a break to have her family. She has three daughters, Latonya Tejada, Sharae Jones and Natasha Wheeler, seven grandchildren and has been married to husband Ray for 44 years.

She came back to the work force at Baylor College of Medicine and was working with Dr. Brissett when he was recruited to create a new Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Center at Houston Methodist. In 2016, she came with Dr. Brissett to Houston Methodist and helped him re-establish his highly successful practice. A double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Brissett offers cosmetic, reconstructive and nonsurgical, rejuvenating procedures to his patients at his practice. Jones assists with in-office procedures and schedules surgical procedures. She also is involved in follow-up care. “I love meeting new people and am interested in everyone who comes to the office. I want them to have the best possible experience, and that’s my job,” she said.
